Aloha!

What is Division 2 Baseball?

One of the first things that I hear when asking a player if he is willing to commit or explore an offer at our university as a division 2 recruiting coordinator and now Head Coach at Hawaii Pacific University is "Im looking to wait to keep my options open."

I can definitely relate to this, I'm currently 25 years old, graduated high school in 2011 and college in 2015. The one thing on my mind at that age and the goal of mine as a high school player was of course to strive for a division 1 scholarship and play at a high collegiate level. I was lucky enough to have earned that opportunity, however I was unaware about all of the opportunities along with the level of competition and opportunities that Division 2 Baseball has to offer.

I'm hoping through this post and being able to answer questions for you all that I can shine some light on one of the most underrated divisions in college baseball.

Some quick facts about D2 Baseball:

- Programs that are fully funded have the ability to offer our 9 equivalencies based on the cost of attendance at that university.

- The ability to stack both academic merit money (based on your cumulative GPA and test scores after you Junior year in HS) along with athletic money allow for large packages which make private universities and division 2 education affordable

The partial-scholarship model allows Division II schools to recognize student-athletes for their skills through athletics-based aid, while at the same time keeping athletics budgets more in line with the institution’s budgets

-62 percent of all student-athletes receive some level of athletics aid.

- As a high school student athlete, a cumulative GPA above a 3.0 will allow you to receive academic merit aid which can be stacked with athletic aid.

-  Conferences along the west coast provide a high level education along with a high level of play on the field.

- More importantly it allows opportunities for student-athletes to play right away out of high school or Junior College.

These are just a few of the benefits of Division 2 Baseball and I'm looking forward to assisting and answering any questions that you all may have about the recruiting process and college baseball in general. Thanks for your time!
